SHILLONG, Oct 01: It seems that the controversial Chandra Mohan Jha (CMJ) University is out of the woods, as of now, but intriguingly this controversial University has one thing in common with another private University, Techno Global University, at least on paper.
A cursory glance at the website of the two Universities would unmistakably get one fixated on the section “About India-Meghalaya” (http://www.cmjuniversity.edu.in/about-india-meghalaya.php and http://technoglobaluniversity.org/About_meghalay_page.aspx).

Both University website essays on the section begin uncannily with an Albert Einstein quote! It reads: “We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made!" – Albert Einstein!
The rest of the essay is exactly same; word by word both the India and Meghalaya sections. In the about India section, both websites starts with “India, a country in South Asia, is the seventh largest by geographical area…” and ends at “A pluralistic, multilingual and multiethnic society, India is also home to a diversity of wildlife in a variety of protected habitats.”
Similarly, in the About Meghalaya section they start with “The hilly state of Meghalaya is tucked away in the hills of eastern sub-Himalayas” and ends at “Meghalaya's gross state domestic product for 2004 is estimated at $1.6 billion in current prices.”
Now the fundamental question that arises is: do these two Universities share in common more than the essay?
Or how could two private Universities, seat of higher education, be so intellectually bankrupt that they can’t write a 650 words essay of  their own and if the essays were copied from a different site it portrays the Universities in a poor light and amounts to plagiarism.
Moreover, the Techno Global website is replete with spelling errors, some basic. The website in the course contents writes “Embroydry, Cutting & Tailring, “Mass commjunication and journalism” “Peramedical” and “fire and safety manegment.” The CMJ University website on the other hand has few such errors except such as “Diploma in Phisiotherapy.”
In the aftermath of the CMJ University closure, many students were advised by the State education department to enroll in Techno Global, students of CMJ University have said, especially those doing their Biotechnology.
Meanwhile, on paper Techno Global and CMJ Universities are different entities. Techno Global University is based at Anita Mension (sic), Bishnupur Shillong, Meghalaya, while CMJ University at Modrina Mansion Laitumkhrah Shillong Meghalaya-793 003.
