SHILLONG, June 05: As a direct result of the gruesome execution of Josbina Sangma, the Meghalaya Government on Thursday announced that the Meghalaya Special Court Bill, 2014, will be introduced in the reassembled Budget Assembly session scheduled to start from Friday.
Informing that this bill is the fastest memo that the Cabinet has acted upon, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that the Bill is a result of a review meeting that was held on Wednesday regarding the gruesome execution of Josbina Sangma by GNLA militants.
“It is time for the state to have a mechanism for speedy expedition of the trial and dispose of cases to ensure that justice is not delayed,” said the CM.
The Special Courts would be set up in consultation with the Meghalaya High Court. Such courts would take up any cases and ensure their speedy trial, informed Dr. Sangma.
