Shillong, March 31: Suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants Saturday gutted 13 coal laden trucks in a parking lot on the way to Goalpara, East Garo Hills.
There were a total of 15 trucks in the parking lot, two were spared.
The reason, however, behind the reported incident could not be ascertained.
Police, on the other, said it was quite certain of GNLAâ€™s hand in the act.
Shillong, March 31: HP Offlyn Dohling was on Saturday re-elected as the Rangbah Shnong of Malki unopposed, who was earlier forced to step down for his alleged involvement in a controversial case.
The pubic gathered at Malki Ground, belonging to various localities of Malki, in one voice agreed to unanimously re - elect Dohling as their Rangbah Shnong.
Shillong, March 31: Taking suo moto action on the CAG report on air, water and environmental pollution in Meghalaya, the Gauhati High Court has sought clarification from the state government on steps taken to manage the pollutants.
The Shillong Bench of the Gauhati High Court has directed the state government, on Thursday last, to provide details of the steps taken by it to monitor, control and manage air, water and waste pollution in the state, within three weeks.
SHILLONG, March 31: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC)â€™s CEM, PN Syiem, Saturday laid the foundation stone for the â€œKhasi Heritage Villageâ€ project at Mawphlang village, 26 kilometers from Shillong city.
The idea behind the project is to preserve the rich traditional and cultural diversity of the â€œKhasisâ€.
