Victor Lyngdoh named new Bishop of Jowai

SHILLONG, Oct 15: Rt Rev Victor Lyngdoh has been appointed as the new Bishop of Jowai by His Holiness, Pope Francis on Saturday.
This ecclesiastical provision was made public in Rome on Saturday wherein the Archbishop of Shillong, Dominic Jala has also been appointed as the Apostolic Administrator ‘sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis’ of the Diocese of Nongstoin.


It may be noted here that prior to his appointment as Bishop of Jowai, Rt. Rev. Victor Lyngdoh was earlier the Bishop of Nongstoin. He was born on January 14, 1956 in Wahlang, Archdiocese of Shillong and was ordained a priest on January 25, 1987.
He was elected Bishop of Nongstoin on January 28, 2006 and consecrated on April 2, 2006.
