SHILLONG, Sep 12: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) has decided to suspend three of its MDCs in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) for a period of one month.
The letter informing about the decision of the party was also sent to the three MDCs which include Mawhati MDC James Sylliang, Nongthymmai MDC Latiplang Kharkongor and Mawthadraishan MDC Blanding Warjri on Wednesday.
The three were earlier alleged to have indulged in anti-party activities for going against the party direction by supporting the HS Shylla-led Khasi Hills Democratic Alliance (KHDA).
“The Central Executive Committee (CEC) in its meeting held recently has taken a decision to suspend the three MDCs for a period of one month from September 7 to October 7,” the general secretary of the party Auspicious Lyngdoh Mawphlang said in the letter.
He however said that the suspended MDCs are welcome to meet the party leadership if they want to discuss on the decision taken by the party.
Mawphlang said that the three MDCs had failed to support the CEM candidate of the party Grace Mary Kharpuri and also the chairman candidate Morningstar Mawsor during the elections held recently.
Stating that the party had also issued show cause notices, Mawphlang however said that all the three MDCs have refused to reply even after the stipulated time given had already lapsed.
