Shillong, May 25: Shillong Lajong FC is all set to face off Kerala Blasters FC in the finals of the U-18 Youth League to be held at the JN Stadium in Shillong on Saturday at 4:30PM.
The U-18 Youth League qualification round kicked off earlier this year and the Reds finished the Shillong-Guwahati Zone on top with 16 points from 6 games and also topped the final round group D with 9 points from 3 games. They won the semi-finals against East Bengal by 2-0. Altogether, the Lajong young guns have impressively scored a total of 21 goals in the tournament so far and conceded just three.
Shillong, May 13: Langsning FC were beaten 3-1 by TRAU FC in their last match of the Second Division League group stage at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in Imphal on Sunday.
Ngangbam Naocha scored a brace and Reisangmei Vashum added another goal for the hosts before prolific scorer Kitboklang Pale pulled one back for Langsning at the very end of the match.
This was only the first time in 10 outings that Langsning conceded more than one goal in a match and it came against the team that have qualified for the final round at the top of their game in front of 3,000 adoring fans.
SHILLONG, April 09: A resolute Langsning FC bagged a vital point away at Mohammedan Sporting in their Second Division League Group C match in a 0-0 draw in Kolkata on Monday.
The goalless match saw both sides manufacture several opportunities throughout the 90 minutes but failed to find a breakthrough.
SHILLONG, April 08: Boosted by an excellent 3-1 victory away at Jamshedpur FC reserves in their last Second Division League match, Langsning FC are aiming to continue that winning momentum in Kolkata on Monday in a Group C clash against Mohammedan Sporting.
The fixture will kick-off at 3:15pm.
Langsning produced an excellent display in their first away game of the season in Jamshedpur on April 4, taking a three-goal lead by the 36th minute before conceding later on in the first half.
SHILLONG, March 25: Langsning FC and TRAU FC will face each other in the first North East derby of the Second Division League here on Monday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 4:00pm.
This will be the first match in Group ‘C’ between two teams that can progress to the final round of the league (the Indian Super League reserve sides will only take part in the group stage) and both clubs want to come out on top.
Langsning and TRAU (Tiddim Road Athletic Union) of Manipur are the only two North East teams in this season’s Second Division.
