SHILLONG, July 08: Some very close contests were witnessed on Saturday in the fourth full match day of the Meghalaya Baby League (MBL) 2018 as the competition between the children has definitely lifted a gear.
The closest matches were played out between Mawlatbah SC Hawks and Little Star Clouded Leopards. The latter won the opening 4-5-year group convincingly 6-0, but could not find a way past their opponents in the other games. The Hawks won two of these, 2-0 in the 6-7-year group and 6-4 in the 10-11-year group, while the other two ended in goalless draws.
SHILLONG, July 08: The All India Junior Selectors (AIJS) has selected Akash Kumar Choudhury of MCA for the U-19 players national camp to be conducted at NCA, Bengaluru from July 30 to August 30, 2018. The selection is based on his consistent performance for NADP/Bihar ZCA in inter zonal cricket academy tournament which concluded recently.
TURA/SHILLONG, July 01: The dream of two aspiring sportspersons from the state, chosen to represent the country in an international sporting event, literally hangs by a thread due to a lack of financial support for the duo.
The lack of financial support from any quarter for the duo looks to be derailing their dream of being a part of the team as well as garnering medals for the country and the state.
The two athletes, Ibadarishisha Mukhim (Junior Girls - Below 48 Kgs) and Nathaniel Pynbianglang Kurkalang (Junior Boys - Below 60 Kgs) are part of the team that is to represent the country in Venice, Italy for WAKO Cadets & Juniors World Kickboxing Championship, 2018 to be held from September 15-23. 2018. They form a part of a team of 26 from the country, including officials and referees.
SHILLONG, June 25: The two – day 4th Meghalaya State shooting championship 2018 concluded on Sunday at the Assam Regiment Center's Precision and Open ranges. The 2018 edition was attended by over 50 participants, but bringing a total of 86 shooters across all events. There were a total of 10 women shooters in the category of Youth, Junior & Senior.
The event was organized by the Shooting Association of Meghalaya (SAM) on June 23 – 24, which also witnessed a marked increase of Shooters.
The oldest shooter was 55 years and the youngest was 16 years of age.
SHILLONG, June 23: Even heavy rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of the children taking part in the third day of the Meghalaya Baby League (MBL) 2018 here on Saturday, with Kickstart FCC Rhinos, Langsning Greenergy Lions and Wahlakhiat Bulls, emerging all big winners.
Fifteen matches were held at three venues – Third Ground, the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the Futsal Ground – at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex in Polo Ground.
